According to Administration officials, there have been discussions with quite a few individuals about the prospect of joining the White House soon, but these officials caution that the official job offers have yet to be extended. One change that is all but certain, says one official this morning, is that Billy Webster will move from his position as Chief of Staff to the Education Secretary to the White House as the head of scheduling. The official said there have been discussions with Webster about such a move, but he has yet to get the final offer. Another Administration official, State Department spokesman Mike McCurry, is said to have had discussions with the powers that be about either taking the job currently held by White House Communications Director Mark Gearan or the job held by White House Press Secretary Dee Dee Myers. Should Gearan be replaced, the inside betting is that he will return to his previous slot as Deputy Chief of Staff, exercising a heavy hand in the White House’s political operation. …
